Winter Wedding

Samantha & Sebastian

I shot my first wedding of 2011 yesterday, and it was a fabulous start to the year: family warmth and togetherness, delicious food, excitement, joy, and phenomenal dancing! (The dance floor is positively electric when Latin Americans get married.) Here are a couple of outdoor shots in the snowfall from last night. There is no Photoshop trickery in the above photo — that is actual blowing snow, the tablecloth billowing in the wind. Aside from some cropping, this is the scene. I’m using a flash here, so it would be completely noticeable if I were shooting through a window.

I love it when I can get couples to brave inclement weather to shoot outside. Sometimes a lot of booze is consumed first, but in this case not, since the couple were pretty much game for anything I asked. I always try to make the shivering worth everyone’s while!

But I’m paying for it today — I woke up with a sore throat, my eyes are watery, my nose is marathon-running, and I’ve been sneezing all day long. Ah well, it was still worth shooting outside last night. My cold will eventually go away, but those pictures will be around forever.
