We interrupt my late-night housecleaning to bring to you a shot of the River Liffey in a poetic moment…
… or, a moment Darren Barefoot describes as “bucolic”. (Click on the pic to see comments.)
This was taken 10 years after yesterday’s Belfast photos, at Easter in 2003. It’s an unretouched photo, i.e., it came straight off the digicam’s memory card and not colour-corrected or enhanced. I don’t think I’ve taken a sunset photo with anything close to those shades since — the quality of light is unusual.

I was given a beauty of a Welsh rugby jersey a long time ago, but I think somebody pinched it 🙁
I was a big rugby fan back in the day, went to some international games, but alas it’s been years since and I’ve forgotten many of the rules. It was fun to learn the words to the sing-a-longs, though! Turned the air blue.

unfortunately, i cannot remember the exact phrase, but when taught welsh in school my teacher used to say something along the lines of “the liffey ar yr jiffy”. you’ve reminded me. weird. i think this phrase used to crop up around the time we, Wales, played the Irish at rugby, but i was about 8 years old 🙂
