the wedding shoes

I am first and foremost a budget-conscious photographer.
I believe photography can be affordable without compromising the value of the photographer’s skill and talent.
The question in my mind has always been how to scale the service to match a budget.

I work under the premise that all weddings are different, and therefore I price completely on an a la carte basis — I have no packages.

This came about from my own experience of researching photographers for my wedding in 2005: my husband and I knew what we wanted, and it wasn’t in a package. We even designed our own wedding rings. Before embarking on wedding photography, I searched for ways to make it affordable while providing full coverage.

This is what I’ve come up with:

I currently have a minimum shooting fee of $300 for any event (this fee is subject to change), whether it is a wedding or birthday party. Your budget beyond $300 is directed towards the processing and delivery of the product: CDs, prints, photobooks, slideshows, and canvas prints are some of the possibilities. The bulk of the work in terms of hours is the selection process, editing, and retouching for the final product, which means if your budget is small, consider reducing the product to what you can afford and order when you can afford it. Once you’ve set your wedding budget, we can discuss the details and I can provide you with some ideas of what your budget can buy now, or later if you need that option.

The main priority is that your event is covered. People don’t remember much about weddings, and all the wonderful details you’ve worked so hard to bring to your wedding and paid a great deal for are lost if they aren’t documented. Photography also helps to bring your wedding to people who couldn’t make it there in person. Everything lasts for only one day: the flowers, food, outfits and accessories, hair and makeup, gathering of friends and family, the venue, limo, and all the rest… except for photography.

Photography is the sole enduring service for your wedding. The photographer is a vendor who takes the time to get to know you before your big day, the vendor who you will spend the most time with during your big day, and the one vendor who you will have the most contact with after your big day is through. With this in mind, your selection of a photographer should be based on several criteria: style, customer service, and budget. I encourage you to get in touch with me to see if I’m the photographer you’re looking for. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have, by phone, email, or in person.

With a low flat shooting fee and a flexible product menu, my a la carte pricing is geared towards smaller budgets. I provide full coverage but all product is priced separately. If you are looking for lots and lots of product right away, my a la carte pricing may end up being more expensive than a package.

In addition to wedding photography, I also do corporate shoots, family sessions, engagements, and shoots for personal and professional portraits. I don’t have packages or an hourly fee, I quote based on your specific requirements for service and product delivery.

If you have any questions, please contact me. It would be helpful if you could provide details such as dates, location, budget, etc. I look forward to hearing from you!
